History of Leavenworth's Juvenile Diabetes Fun Run and Walk

|| Event || Home ||

Leavenworth's Juvenile Diabetes Fun Run and Walk began as a Senior High School project of one of our employees, Carrera Casper.  Carrera organized the first run held in November 2005.  Carrera raised over $300 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDFR).

Carrera was inspired to put on the run and walk after our daughter, Vanessa, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in April 2004.  Carrera saw first hand how a disease can be life threatening and seen how Vanessa has dealt with her disease.

Vanessa checks her blood sugar at least 5 time daily and injects herself with insulin three to four times a day depending on her numbers.

We at Haus Rohrbach are committed to supporting the JDRF, not only because of our daughter's condition, but because of the alarming occurence of diabetes in children and adults.
